Posting without identifiers
Mandible is a no-PHI platform. Every case must be de-identified before you share it. You are responsible for that; our screening is a safety net, not a substitute.
Remove before you post
- Names, initials, and nicknames, including in captions, titles and file names.
- Dates tied to the patient: birth dates, appointment dates, dates on radiographs. The year alone is fine.
- Chart, account, record and insurance numbers.
- Addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and anything else that identifies where the patient lives.
- Burned-in text on radiographs and CBCT exports. Crop it out or export without the overlay.
- Full-face photos. See below.
Faces: crop, don't cover
Eye bars, emoji, blur over the eyes and sunglasses do not de-identify a face. Crop the photo to the lips and teeth. Intraoral photos, retracted views and radiographs without text are normally fine.
What Mandible does on top
- Export cards are screened for burned-in text such as names on radiographs before they leave Mandible.
- When you share a case link in iMessage or anywhere else, a public case preview shows the procedure, tooth number and, if they opted in, the author. It never shows the case’s own title or anything about the patient. Private cases show a generic card.
- Case links respect the case's visibility. Someone without access sees nothing about it.
If you posted something by mistake
Edit or delete the case right away, then email team@mandible.io so we can make sure every copy is removed. Do not include the patient information in your email.
